This Privacy Policy explains how Mooveo handles account, profile, activity, technical, and notification data across the mobile app and web application.

Mooveo allows users to create movie and TV lists, share them with others, chat within shared lists, rate media, and receive recommendations.

Mooveo is an app and web service that helps users create, manage, share, and collaborate on movie and TV lists.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

  • Email address
  • Password, securely hashed and never stored in plain text
  • Display name or username
  • Beta access request details, such as your name, Google Play email address, and optional note if you request Android beta access

Profile and Activity Data

  • Display name history
  • Lists you create
  • Media items you add to lists
  • Ratings or scores you submit
  • Comments or messages within shared lists
  • List membership, invites, and permissions
  • App activity needed to provide features and recommendations

Technical Data

  • Session cookies and authentication tokens
  • Login session status
  • Device and app information needed for app functionality
  • Basic server logs, such as IP address, timestamps, and request information

Notification Data

  • Push notification tokens, if you enable notifications
  • Notification preferences and delivery status

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Authenticate you and keep your account secure
  • Allow collaboration on shared lists
  • Enable comments or chat within shared lists
  • Store your lists, ratings, media items, and preferences
  • Provide recommendations and app features
  • Manage Android beta access requests
  • Send account-related emails, verification emails, magic sign-in links, and list invites
  • Send push notifications, if enabled
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot technical issues

4. Shared Content

If you join, create, or contribute to a shared list:

  • Your display name may be visible to other members of that list
  • Your comments or messages may be visible to members of that list
  • Your ratings, media additions, and list activity may be visible to members where needed for shared features
  • Your ratings may influence shared recommendations

5. Email Communications

We send emails only for service-related purposes, including:

  • Account verification
  • Magic sign-in links
  • Account-related notifications
  • List invites
  • Security-related alerts

We do not send marketing emails.

6. Third-Party Services

Mooveo uses third-party services to operate the app, including:

  • The Movie Database (TMDb), to retrieve movie and TV metadata. No personal account data is intentionally shared with TMDb.
  • Email delivery services, to send verification emails, sign-in links, list invites, and account-related messages.
  • Push notification services, to deliver app notifications if notifications are enabled.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers, to securely run the app, store app data, and maintain the service.
  • Google Analytics, to understand aggregate website usage and improve the public website.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile, to protect public forms from spam and automated abuse.

7. Data Storage and Security

  • Passwords are securely hashed and are not stored in plain text.
  • Access-controlled endpoints require authentication.
  • CSRF protection is used for sensitive actions where applicable.
  • Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect user data.

8. Data Retention

Your account data is retained while your account remains active. Some technical logs may be retained for a limited period for security, troubleshooting, fraud prevention, and abuse prevention.

If your account is deleted, associated personal data is removed except where limited retention is required for legal, security, fraud prevention, or abuse prevention purposes.

9. Account Deletion and Your Rights

You can request deletion of your Mooveo account and associated personal data from within the app, or by contacting us at hello@mooveo.io.

You may also contact us to request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, or deletion of your account.

10. Cookies and Local Storage

Mooveo uses essential session cookies, authentication tokens, and local storage where needed to keep you signed in and provide app functionality.

The public website uses Google Analytics to collect aggregate usage information, such as page views and browser or device details. Mooveo does not use advertising cookies.

11. Children

Mooveo is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

12. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically. If significant changes are made, we may notify users through the app or by other appropriate means.
